District Training Calendar

To be considered fully trained for your position, you need to attend the following:

• Cub Scouts = YPT + Fast Start+TIS+CSLS (including the breakout for your position)
• Boy Scout Committee = YPT + Fast Start+TIS+TCC
  
• Boy Scout SM/ASM = YPT + Fast Start+TIS+SALT+ITOLS
• Venture Leaders = YPT (Venturing version) + Fast Start + TIS + VLST
• Den Chiefs = Den Chief Fast Start + DCT

Youth Protection

• On-line course for all adults
• Required for any adult working with our youth
• Provides adult leaders and interested parents with youth protection guidelines as outlined by the BSA.
• This training supplies information to help ensure a safe and secure environment for the youth of our program through protection guidelines that are outlined by the BSA.
• This training supplies information on the basics of recognizing and reporting abuse.
• This program helps protect our youth and YOU, as their leader, by supplying the facts!

Fast Start

• On-line course for all leaders
• Provides information to aid new leaders in planning and conducting their first meetings
• Should be completed immediately after accepting a new position

This Is Scouting (TIS)

• On-line course for all leaders
• Pre-requisite for CSLS, TCC, SALT, ITOLS, and VLST

Cub Scout Leader Specific Training (CSLS)

• Saturday, August 28, 2010, 9:00am-1:00pm
• Saturday, September 18, 2010, 9:00am-1:00pm
• Sunday, October 17, 2010, 2:00pm-6:00pm
• Cost is $4

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

• Saturday, September 25, 2010, 8:00am-4:00pm
• Cost is $15 and includes lunch
• Bring chair and water bottle

Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders (OWLS)

• Required for Webelos Den Leaders before conducting den camping
• Leaders desiring this course should register for ITOLS since the OWLS curriculum is being incorporated into ITOLS

Scoutmaster & Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training (SALT) - for all Boy Scout Leaders

• Saturday, October 2, 2010, 8:00am-5:30pm (St Aidens Episcopal Church)
• Cost is $25 ($?? if you want a Scoutmaster Handbook also)

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (ITOLS) - Outdoor training for Boy Scout Leaders

• Sunday, October 3, 2010, 1:00pm-4:00pm (Birmingham UMC)
• Friday, October 15, 2010 8:00pm - Sunday, October 17, 2009 ~3:00pm (Birmingham UMC)
• Attendance at both orientation and weekend campout is required

Troop Committee Challange (TCC)

• On-line for all Troop committee members

Venturing Leader Specific Training (VLST)

• For all Venturing adult leaders and committee members
• TBD
• Cost is $15 and includes lunch

Den Chief Training (DCT)

• For Den Chiefs and interested Den Leaders
• TBD
